Nathanial B. Findlay

CEO

Every day is opening day.

I’m Nat Findlay, the founder and CEO of Myca Health. Before Myca, I teamed up with Leonard Schlemm, co-founder of 24 Hour Fitness, to integrate internet-ready PCs into more than 10,000 pieces of fitness equipment in more than 500 clubs across North America.

(I guess it's no surprise that I have a treadmill built into my desk.)

Then, I got the opportunity to take that idea farther into the health care world by equipping hospital beds with touch screen computers connected to the internet, just like the machines in the fitness clubs. A few brave souls and I started a venture called Eon Media Inc, which was quickly acquired by Cardinal Health Inc. one year later.

During my time as VP of Clinical Technology and Services at Cardinal, I found that these hospitals were filled with incredibly dedicated people, working with just as incredibly outdated information and communication systems. I began to wonder how I could enable better communication between patient and doctor outside the four walls of the hospital. How could I connect mobile consumers to the mainframe of medical computing?

That was the inspiration behind Myca, and it still is today. Myca and I are driven by curiosity: how can Myca make healthcare more accessible? How can we make doctors more efficient? I hope to keep pushing the boundaries in helping doctors connect with their patients.

That's why I'm at Myca.

Steven Ferguson

VP Product Management

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

I’m the Vice President of Product Management here at Myca. It's my job to be the voice of the customer— to make sure both doctors and patients are heard.

I have a diverse background in health sciences, marketing and product management. As Senior Product Manager in the Clinical Technologies and Services division of Cardinal Health, I managed the development of clinical point-of-care software from conception to launch.

After finishing a B.A in Kinesiology at The University of Western Ontario, I completed a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology at York University. At York, I went on to run the school’s undergraduate teaching laboratory. Later I joined EXFO, a fiber optic test and measurement company where I worked in their marketing and sales teams.

There, I learned that successful product development is dependent on problem solving. In order to build the right solution and solve the problem, one needs to be able to listen to and understand the users' pain points, and to communicate their needs to the development team.

That’s where I come in. I see the need for a superior user experience on both sides of the doctor/patient relationship. Empowering doctors and giving them the best communication tools is what will strengthen this relationship.

That's why I'm at Myca.

Josée Morin

VP Strategy

To understand the heart and mind of a person, look not at what he has already achieved, but at what he aspires to.
— Kahlil Gibran

I'm Josee Morin, the Vice President of Strategy for Myca. I take care of establishing and executing the overall technological, product and marketplace directions for the company. I've been involved with high technology businesses since the beginning of my career in 1985. After finishing a degree in Electrical Engineering at Laval University, I went on to help create three technology start-up companies, including one that was sold to Cardinal Health.

Although I'm an engineer by training and an entrepreneur by practice, I am humanist by nature. I come from a family of doctors, and have aging parents and growing children. Healthcare and technology are at the heart of my life.

I truly believe that healthcare must change in order to meet the future needs of an aging population and insure the quality of service they deserve. Only through the real integration of best medical practices and information technology can we accomplish these goals.

Myca operates at the intersection of these worlds, and I have the opportunity to be part of the team making this change happen. I'm happy to be at a point in my career where my motivation comes from making the world a better place and working with first-rate people.

That's why I'm at Myca.

Michèle Morin

VP Operations

Innovation is the creation of the new or
the re-arranging of the old in a new way.
— Michael Vance

My name's Michele Morin and I take care of the overall operations at Myca.

In my earlier career, I managed enormous projects in the aeronautical industry, working in a large multinational for which I traveled (almost) around the world.

That was CAE, a publicly traded company in Canada. They're the leading provider of simulation and modeling technologies, and integrated training services for civil aviation around the world. I was Project and Product Manager in Flight Simulation, in charge of numerous multimillion-dollar projects, including a joint project on the Airbus A380 with Airbus from Toulouse, France.

From there, I managed production operations at Taleo, also a publicly traded company in the US. Taleo is an application service provider for on-demand human resource solutions. They service many leading companies worldwide.

I know that healthcare is essential for everyone— no matter where you live, how you’re educated, or how wealthy you are. And it’s also a sector where there’s an enormous need to improve the system.

I decided that I wanted to bring my expertise to a smaller, more agile business. I also wanted to contribute to a group that would give me the chance to make a difference, and that was producing a product that could change people’s lives.

That's why I’m at Myca.

Martin-Pierre Roy

VP Research & Development

The way we communicate with others and with ourselves ultimately determines the quality of our lives.
— Anthony Robbins

I’m Martin-Pierre Roy, the Vice President of Research & Development here at Myca.

I have more than 12 years of experience in software product and infrastructure development. After graduating from Laval University in 1995, I joined Speedware, a company developing reporting and analytical software.

In 2000, I joined Xystos as R&D Director. In this role, I created a quality group of people, restructured the development team, and helped release the first commercial version of the Xystos product.

In January 2001, I joined EON Media, a company dedicated to creating the "PatientStation." The company was acquired in 2002 by Cardinal Health, where I was named R&D Manager. There, I was involved in the integration of many different Cardinal Health systems, including medication cabinets, infusion pumps, and vital sign monitors. In 2005, I was promoted to System Architect, and joined a small group who lead the technical orientation strategies for the Medication Products division.

At Myca, I'm enabled to use my expertise to think outside preconceived boundaries. I’m a little unconventional and convinced that the answers to the problems facing healthcare lie outside the box. It’s extremely rewarding to know that my professional accomplishments can help make life better for people using our systems.

That's why I'm at Myca.

Jean Pichette

VP Sales

Even if you're on the right track,
you'll get run over if you just sit there.
— Will Rogers

I'm Jean Pichette, Vice President of Sales for Myca. I take care of creating the ultimate Sales team that will bring together healthcare professionals and technology to improve patient care and physicians' satisfaction.

With an original intense background in speed skating (participated in ‘84 and ‘88 Olympics), I transferred this knowledge coupled with studies at Laval University in Communication and Marketing in my work with the University of Calgary by developing one of the most successful training centers in the world.

Being one of the founders of Eon Media inc. in 2001, it was rapidly acquired by Cardinal Health where my last 8+ years have been focused on bringing Patient Safety solutions to hospitals across North America. My work was concentrated in converting hospitals to our technology with the goal of reducing medication errors and provide better care for patients.

Myca is the continuity of this work I have started in Patient Safety as well as in sport. It is the discipline of execution and the crossroad between Physicians, technology and Patients. I am an integral part of this great team that sees no limits in improving healthcare throughout the world.

That's why I'm at Myca!

L. Gordon Moore, MD

President of Hello Health University

I became a family medicine physician to help improve health and reduce suffering. I found that the reality of our work was not what I had envisioned when I entered the medical school and the gap between the current practice and the ethics of our profession is large and growing.

Since the mid 1990s I have been on a journey to close that gap by redesigning the way we deliver care in medical practices. I have helped form a physician organization, been a quality officer in an academic medical center, a faculty member of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, principle investigator of a national project to improve quality of care in primary care offices (www.IdealMedicalPractices.org).

My prototype Ideal Medical Practice of 2001 inspired hundreds of physicians to radically alter their professional lives, reinvigorating careers and caring and inspiring ripples of innovation that continue to alter the medical delivery landscape.

As I travel the country I am continually impressed by the dedication and passion of my colleagues and co-workers in health care, but also their yearning to reduce the discordance between to their original vision of the health care professional and what they are forced to do in current practice. My desire is to support them as they imagine and build vital and sustainable practices in which they deliver superb care to their patients.

When I first saw the Hello Health platform in December of 2008 I saw the first electronic platform that fully supported the relationship and communication that are core of good health care and perfectly married technology to the process improvement of ideal practices.

As the president of Hello Health University I am leading an excellent team in building the support for health professionals who would join the ranks of those who would close the gap between our practices and our professional ethics.

Myca is working to make this possible.

That is why I am at Myca.
